08.30.10 | songs stuck in my head

last weekend, i played a bonfire-at-the-beach set for friends… it was probably the longest i’ve played the guitar at one time in a loooong while… my fingertips were hatin’ me the next day

the playlist was pretty diverse — from weezer to dave matthews to roy orbison (yea… random)

anyways, these three songs stuck out from the night — they’re stuck in my head still… i gotta say, they’re pretty fun to play and they bring me back almost 10 years when i was first startin’ out on the guitar…

gonna try soundcloud for this — we’ll see how it works

oh those american adjunct lagers… they’re sooo run of the mill and this one is no exception…

sure it was made in the same country as my favorite national soccer team (one of ‘em at least), but this one was “ho hum”… no need to go further with this one i guess… you get the point

i do remember that juan and andy brought this over when we watched pacquiao put the beat down on cotto… it was supposed to be a filipino beer (san mig) and a puerto rican beer, but apparently, those aren’t easily found at your local bevmo… so argentina was thrown in as a substitute… it’s all the same tho — all brown right? (that’s racist)

12.07.09 | it’s always sunny… in your celly!

i think it was juan’s idea… but i made the always sunny theme into a ringtone…

for some reason, i couldn’t find the actual version the tv show used… because the real song is much longer (“Temptation Sensation” by Hienz Kiessling)

so i had to use adobe audition to cut up the song and get what i needed… enjoy!

drank this on the heels of the aforementioned club colombia — had a slightly differing taste. and by that i mean it didn’t really taste like anything.

juan mentioned that colombians don’t really have a taste for dark beers so this is the best they’ve got… there’s the phrase about not saying anything if you don’t have anything nice to say right? so i’ll let this dood on beer advocate say it:

“This is one of the blandest, most lifeless lagers I’ve tasted. That said, it doesn’t taste bad. It just tastes like club soda with a splash of beer.”

ehhh… i’ll have to agree…

HOWEVER, that’s not saying that the effort to get the beer to me is overlooked… lawlz… i appreciate it, juan — congratulations, you have your flag in the beer list AND you’re pregnant!

thanks to juan for this beer… straight from mexico… err colombia — same thing i guess, right?

all to get his country’s flag into my modest list! he had to fool the TSA by turning this (and another can) into a suppository… yea… i totally drank outta the can!

so let’s see — at first sip, i KNEW it was similar to a bud light/coors light type… and i was effin’ right (american adjunct lager)! i dunno if that’s a testament to my taste buds, or the fact that i drank so much of that during the july 4th weekend (ughhhh).

tho, i will give it credit — it was a lot SMOOTHER than BL/CL imho… those other beers have a weird harshness to it that makes it lack drinkability.

i can totally see myself drinking too much of these and fuckin’ myself up… good stuff!

i grade it a B (yes, partly because of the length of personal travel from point of origin to my belly)

lemme get this out in the open — i’m not a fan of green-bottled beer… so why is beer bottled in green bottles? mark says, “cos they’re fucking retarded” (true, but i’m looking for specifics — thanks for playing, mark).

here’s another answer, but it doesn’t really answer why it was done in the first place

i think it was three sheets that told me that breweries used green bottles when there was a shortage of brown bottles… can someone f’in google it to determine if i’m right or if i just pulled that one outta my ass? (i would, but i am le tired)

anyway, this beer was just like heineken, which also is way overrated (jersey douchebags) — little sour flavor. if someone on beeradvocate says they taste “hints of coriander” or “floral notes”, they’re f*ckin’ lying… there is nothing good about this beer

i’m proud to present my first D grade! whoo hoo

oh yea, and everyone wanted to be tagged — so there you go, andy, lisa, juan, and adam. enjoy the spotlight

first one i had of these was at geoff’s –  it was good, but not amazing…

had one again at andy’s and it was awesome. the difference? temperature!

if you’re going to have one of these, i suggest poppin’ them in the freezer for a bit (when the mountains turn blue… oh wait.. wrong beer)

complimented well with a burger — what a great meal!

i think this’ll be one of my “everyday beers” — something to kick back on after work or during a game…

*UPDATE* – funny moment that i just had to throw in… so juan didn’t quite know the name of this beer so the whole night he kept asking for “smithsonian” — so now this beer’s nickname to us is “smithsonian”

i’ll start off with the grade — i’m giving this a solid A. i’m a fan of “coffee beers” and this was no exception.

this one also came in a bigger 500ml bottle, which worked out cuz it was delish — i would definitely go back to this one and i suggest it to anyone who likes darker coffee-like beer.

finally, another beer with an A grade that rivals the peche lambic!
